Many Philippine television viewers are now talking about the highly-anticipated remake of the classic 2000 teleserye Pangako sa'Yo. It is slated to replace ABS-CBN's top-rating primetime masterpiece Forevermore starting on May 25, 2015.
Pangako sa'Yo was one of the most influential Philippine drama series of all time as it not only captured the hearts of millions of television viewers in the Philippines, but also appealed international viewing audiences as well dominating television ratings in many countries all over the world. The show, which aired from 2000 to 2002, was popularized by the love story of Yna and Angelo, the endless love of Amor and Eduardo, and the rivalry between Amor Powers and Claudia Buenavista.
Last May 5, 2015, its first full trailer was released on Philippine television and it was trended on social media both nationwide and worldwide. This indicates that many including old fans of the series are hyped of the upcoming remake. The said trailer not only contains the origins of the love story of Amor and Eduardo and the Amor-Claudia rivalry, but also introduced the main characters of the story. They will be played by Kathryn Bernardo as Yna (originally played by Kristine Hermosa), Daniel Padilla as Angelo (originally played by Jericho Rosales), Jodi Sta. Maria as Amor Powers (originally played by Eula Valdez), Angelica Panganiban as Claudia Buenavista (originally played by Jean Garcia), and Ian Veneracion as Eduardo (originally played by Tonton Gutierrez).
And since the network wars continues to heat up, it is expected that many Philippine television viewers today will enjoy what makes Pangako sa 'Yo one of the most talked-about Philippine TV dramas of all time. I leave you now with Daniel Padilla's own version of the hit theme song of the same name.
