NCAA Moves Back to ABS-CBN Sports

National Collegiate Athletic Association

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has announced that it will officially renew its broadcast deal with ABS-CBN Sports starting next season after three years with Sports5. It seems that NCAA officials are not happy that the happy network's sports arm is not focusing more on promoting the ladder's coverage of the oldest collegiate sports league in the Philippines, considering that it is more focused on the PBA games due to the demanding requests of the league's fans.

As I remember, the NCAA was first aired on ABS-CBN's sister channel Studio 23 (now ABS-CBN Sports + Action) for ten years from 2001 to 2011. The league moved to Sports5 for a more flexible television coverage, but it has already been criticized for having most of its games aired on TV5's sister channel Aksyon TV which many viewers are not able to watch on channel 41 due to poor signal reception in many areas across the country.

With this move which will be solidified in a few days, it seems that the sports division of the number one television station in the Philippines will once again take its place as the home of Philippine collegiate sports, aside from being the home of the biggest sporting events in the world.
